The Ayeka community in Okitipupa Local government area, southern senatorial district of Ondo state was agog with celebration on Saturday with the people of the town coming out en masse to mark the maiden celebration of the well attended Ayeka Ule Day 2018.
The event featured cultural display by Ayeka youths, miss Ayeka beauty competition, fifty million Naira (N50,000 000) Fund raising Ceremony for the Building of an Ultramodern civic center at Ode Ayeka, and a host of other interesting highlight.
Gen. Bajowa, who was a Special Guest of Honour at the event and an in-law to Oba Frederick Ayelomi, the Lumure of Ayeka King Dom, while delivering his good will address congratulated all Ayeka -Ule sons and daughters for joining the league of the global community who specially celebrate their country home annually, noting that a man’s cradle must not be forgotten no matter what.
Bajowa said Ayeka is a community that is very dear to his heart because his beautiful wife whom he is very proud of hails from the town and also because he has great respect for the town’s Royal Father, a king imbued with wisdom , love for his town and fear of God.
The Retired General however called on both the state and Federal government to come to the aid of Ayeka and the entire Ondo southern senatorial district which the BEDC had plunged into darkness for many years now, stressing that the economy of the entire district is bleak because of the whimsical disconnection of the district from the national grid.
On his advice to indigenes who are successful, the Jagunmolu charged them to be passionate about their homestead, noting that they should always remember wherever destiny has taken them to sojourn that it is not for fun when we say, “Ayeka -Ule ubo muren ajo”.
While praying for more blessings for Ayekas in the Diaspora, he strongly advised that they should deem it a natural responsibility to return home and develop Ayeka.
In support of the cause of erecting a state of the art Civic center at Ayeka , the Chief Launcher, Chief Emeka Daniel Okonkwo, also known as “E Money”, following the generous example of General Bajowa, equally donated a sum of one million naira at the event.
In her speech, Hon Princess Oladunni Odu , who stood in for Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu expressed the desire of the state Governor to be physically present but couldn’t make the event due to pressing government matters.
While craving the support of Ikale people for the government of Gov Akeredolu, Princess Odu maintained that the developmental stride of the Governor of example is obvious to everyone, noting that renovation of primary schools as well as construction of modern classrooms in virtually all primary schools in the state have just been concluded and very soon work will commence in the secondary school section across the state.
While reassuring the good people of Ondo south of the state government’s commitment to ensuring electricity’s return to the district noted that work is ongoing to make sure light is brought back as soon as possible. She appealed to the people of the district to continue to identify with the lofty agenda of Gov Akeredolu’s government.
Earlier In his welcome address, the Lumure of Ayeka, HRH Oba Frederick Ayelomi expressed his gratitude to God for making the event a reality and success and also appreciated all the guests who have come from far and wide to associate with Ayeka-Ule. The Royal father did not forget to call public attention to the terrible gully that had cut off the palace and the stadium from the rest of the town . He called for government support , noting that the gully is a scary death trap.
The Chairman , Ayeka Ule Day planning committee, Chief Omoleminu Solomon Taiwo , the Aduwo of Ayeka kingdom thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event, noting that his joy knew no bound as he noted that virtually all the guest s invited showed up regardless of the distance. He also implored all the sons and daughters of the town to key into the celebration in order to make it an annual celebration.
Among the dignitaries at the event were HRM, Oba Babatunde Faduyile, Abodi of Ikale Land, Evang. Timothy Olorunimbe Ayenuyo ably represented by Mr Agbaje, Mrs. Morenike Alaka, former caretaker chairman Okitipupa Local government, Hon Princess Oladunni Odu, Chief Mrs Jadesola Esho Taofik, Aare Layi Bola Akinbode and a host of others.
