Flood take over some areas in Okitipupa

Residents of Okitipupa, head-quarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area Ondo State have cried out for help from both the local and state governments to rescue them from the annual flooding of their living environment.
Worst affected are people living along Erinje and Ikoya roads of the town. The torrential downpour of last week Wednesday 11th August, 2021 sent many out of the places of abode.
Although it rained for about 8 hours, inhabitants of Adeyemi junction, Okungbo church junction, Olamotoyin filling station and others were either trapped inside or barred from entry as the whole place was covered by pool of flood.
Some of those who spoke with Awawa reporters identified lack of gulley facility on the two sides of the road as the major problem, construction of which will bring succour.
One of the residents Mrs. Grace Asoja, appealed to the governments to bail them out, pointing to a certain building, confirming that inhabitants had been trapped and may not come out until the flood subsides.
Sunday Woye who has lived in the area for past three years lamented that the problems of flood have become yearly menace to those living around.
Ikoya road from Ogundubuja High School junction to Goshen Group of Schools are not spared. But the Igbekele Akinrinwa let-administration in the local government is not leaving any stone unturned.
The Chairman in an interview, affirmed his consciousness of where the shoes pinch the people and promised to live up to their expectations as much as the finance made available for his administration can cater for.
He lamented the plight of the people, promising to include provision for battle against flooding in the next year’s budget. He did not forget to acknowledge the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s efforts in making him able to forge ahead.
