The immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday, used the occasion of his 70th birthday, to declare his intention to run for the Edo North senatorial district seat in the 2023 general election. 

By the declaration, the two-term governor of the state will be contending with Senator Francis Alimekhina, who is also seeking a third term in the Senate.

Oshiomhole said that it is true that for quite some time, many of his people have asked him to contest for the Senate but he replied that first, APC has crisis which has to be fixed.
He said he did tell his followers that until APC is fixed, one cannot talk of contesting election using the platform. He added that having been chairman of the party, he knows the danger inherent in not fixing the crisis in the party. He added that all the challenges of APC was completed and consummated on the 25th of March and the party elected a brand new National Working Committee (NWC) and a brand new National Executive Council (NEC) under the able leadership of a former governor, a former minister and a current senator Adamu Abdullahi.

The former governor added that the leaders from the six local government areas of Edo North Senatorial district were at the birthday yesterday to give their full support to ensure he wins the election.
